SUMMARY:Webinar: Cultivating Student Choice Through the Creative Process
DESCRIPTION:1PD Credit\n \nDescription:\nStudent- centered learning is not enough\, students should be driving the curriculum for themselves in a full embrace of the creative process. This presentation provides specific and practical information\, along with shared experiences that seek to teach students how to learn for themselves\, to build meaning from their own lives and a curious culture\, processed through imagination\, metacognition\, and the entire creative process. Creativity can be taught. Teachers of all content areas and students will come to view curriculum creation as an artwork in itself. We will work through the framework of the creative process\, talk about priming your classroom culture for these experiences of meaning through curiosity\, building domain skills\, and then moving through the step by step processes and exploration I use in a collaborative environment built on trust\, empathy\, and excitement. How do we manifest metacognition? Why is creativity the Big Intelligence that is at the center of everything we say we want for students? Let’s answer these questions.\n\nPresenter: Chris Sykora \n\nMembers and non-members are welcome to join us! \nREGISTER: \nIf you would like to earn Illinois PD hours for this webinar\, please choose the PD option. \nWebinar Registration without PD hours (Open to All!)\nWebinar Registration with PD Hours (Members only)

SUMMARY:Webinar: Critical Skills for Human-Centered Designers
DESCRIPTION:Date: October 21st\, 2021 7:00 PM (Central Time)\n\n1PD Credit available\n\n\nDescription:\nAgncy is a human-centered design firm focused on design for equity. In this presentation\, we will share how human-centered design methods and processes are being adapted and interrogated in contemporary equity design work. We’ll provide case studies that reflect how some core designer mindsets are being pushed by the demands of justice-driven work. We’ll then interpret this through the lens of the specific skill set that designers need to thrive and grow in these practices. We’ll make connections to the Illinois Art Standards to contextualize how skills come to life in the professional design environment. And we’ll discuss how we question some traditional design skills in the type of equity work that we do at Agncy.\n\n  \nMembers and non-members are welcome to join us!\nIf you would like to earn Illinois PD hours for this webinar\, please choose the PD option. \nWebinar Registration without PD hours (Open to All!)\nWebinar Registration with PD Hours (Members only)
