Westmoor School has a position for a K-5 art teacher to cover a maternity leave. The individual should have knowledge of current best practice in elementary school art. He or she must be comfortable with differentiating for the needs of all students in his or her class. The person should be comfortable with implementing a social/emotional curriculum and have a passion for meeting the needs of the whole child.

Job Summary:

Teaching art to approximately 20 elementary stuidents K-5. Working to help each child grow to his or her maximum potential using current best practice in curriculum and instruction.

Qualifications:

* K-12 license with an Endorsement in Art
* Experience preferred
* Child-centered individual
* Ability to work well with children and adults

Job Description:

* Use current technology for instruction and management purposes
* Implement appropriate classroom management strategies
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and community members
* Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, ceramics, lettering, and an appreciation and awareness of art history
* Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellects and abilities
* Plan and present art displays and exhibitions for the school and the community
* Work collaboratively with the Music teacher to plan and execute a 4th and 5th grade musical. Experience in scenery design would be
beneficial.
* Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Administration
