Rise Up: Stonewall and the LGBTQ Rights Movement

The event will consist of a tour of the exhibition with guiding questions, followed by a group discussion. Attendees will have the opportunity to collaboratively develop draft lesson plans based on the exhibitions.
The exhibition documents the fifty years since the Stonewall Uprising, America’s LGBTQ population has struggled for equal rights and representation under the law. Rise Up shares the voices and tells the stories of this movement using imagery and cultural artifacts. Attendees will engage in learning how the visual artifacts relate to the societal, cultural, and historical contexts and issues in the exhibition.
