    About CPS: The Chicago Public Schools (CPS) has set ambitious goals to ensure that every student in every neighborhood will be engaged in a rigorous, well-rounded instructional program and will graduate prepared for success in college, career and life.

    Position Summary: Arts Integration Specialist is primarily responsible for coordinating the implementation of the ATLAS (Arts Teachers Leading Achievement and Success) program, a 3-year USDOE-funded project that engages arts specialists at selected elementary schools in intensive professional learning on arts integration practices that propel student achievement. (ATLAS and this Specialist position are on-track to conclude its activities in winter of 2019.)

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities of Position:

    •Design and lead professional learning for project teachers in arts integration best practices and methods, as well as in technology integration to enhance arts learning in partnership with partner organization Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education (CAPE), including hiring facilitators and planning content;

    •Conducts school visits and classroom observations
    •Manages program calendar, communications, and preparations;
    •Coordinates processing, tracking, documenting and reporting staff time and submitting payroll;
    •Assists with evaluation of project-related professional learning and its effectiveness based on project goals;
    •Manages digital documentation collection(s) and provides web content support;
    •Serves as the liaison among CPS Department of Arts Education, CAPE, U.S. Department of Education, treatment school teachers/administrators, and external evaluator;
    •Performs related duties as required;
    •Budget planning, tracking, and reporting;
    •Coordinating, writing, and compiling Annual and Ad Hoc Reports for grant funder in collaboration with personnel within and outside of the organization

    Other Essential Duties include:

    •Assisting Professional Learning Manager with planning and implementation of district-wide professional learning for teachers and principals, as well as working with smaller cohorts of teachers engaging sustained/intensive professional learning.
    •Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for internal department evaluation, strategic planning, and performance management
    •Contribute to interdepartmental working groups within the CPS Office of Teaching and Learning
    •Contribute to work lead by Ingenuity Incorporated including the work of interorganizational panels, attending partner summits and institutes, presenting at meetings.
    •Present at Network administrator meetings
    •Content development for arts-related submissions to teacher and administrator newsletters
    •Assist CPS Arts Education Student Achievement personnel with performances and exhibitions

    Qualifications:

    •Type of Education Required: Graduation from an accredited college or university with at least a Bachelors’ in arts and/or education or related field
    •3 or more years of professional experience in working in an administrative capacity in education
    •3 or more years of experience working directly with K-12 youth in arts education, arts integration, and/or arts programming
    •Ability to work directly with teachers in an administrative capacity, and to serve as the liaison between program participants and administrative team
    •Strong knowledge of arts integration techniques and technology/digital techniques and tools to enhance arts education
    •Ability to provide discipline-specific expertise in dance, theatre or visual arts
    •Working knowledge of pedagogical best practices including: Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, the Danielson Framework for Teaching and Learning, Understanding by Design, Depth of Knowledge, Bloom’s Taxonomy, Illinois Arts Learning Standards (or National Core Arts Standards) ISTE standards, CCSS.
    •An unwavering belief that all students deserve a high quality arts education.
    •Strong communication skills (speaking, listening, and writing)
    •Spanish language skills preferred
    •Proficiency in Google Applications and Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint) required
    •Basic design/photography and or web content management skills preferred
