Director of Arts Education, Chicago Public Schools Chicago, IL

We are looking for a Director of Arts Education who can continue the momentum of increasing arts education access to more students than any other major urban school system in the U.S. The Director is responsible for leading the strategy and implementation of all art curricula, student programs, professional development and learning with the goal of ensuring equity and access to high quality arts education for all students. Position Summary: Provide system-wide leadership in K-12 art curriculum, instruction, assessment, and intervention to ensure a high-quality arts learning experience for all students. The Director of Arts Education will be responsible for: Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Strategic Planning Resource Management Collaboration Management & Supervision Leadership & Advocacy Requirements: Most importantly, the perfect candidate will have an inspiring passion for arts and an unwavering belief that all students can perform at high levels. He/she will also have: Master’s Degree in education, arts, or related field 10+ years of professional experience working with arts and education initiatives on a large scale Strong understanding of high-quality arts instructional practice Knowledge of research-based effective practices in teaching and learning, including students with disabilities and English language learners Public speaking skills Experience with budget management and fiscal reporting A mindset with a focus on customer service, humility, and integrity.
