    Qualifications:

    • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
    • Bachelor degree from accredited institution of higher learning with

      an art
      endorsement

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
     

    • Provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts/appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about the arts 
    • Implement instructional plans and organize class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time per district Art curriculum policy and standards
    • Work with a diverse group of students to foster a conducive atmosphere where meaningful art experiences provide an opportunity for each student to achieve their maximum potential
    • Coordinate performances/displays and reasonable amounts of co-curricular duties throughout the school year as determined by the principal
    • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive classroom environment in accordance with the regulations and procedures of the school district
    • Maintain cordial and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and participate in the business and activities of the faculty
    • Reflect critically on teaching practice and implement improvement strategies as needed
    • Using the elements and principles of design, teaches knowledge and skills in the areas of art history, world cultures, drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, multi-media and technology
    • Utilizes the curriculum adopted by the Board, and other appropriate learning activities
    • Demonstrates techniques and processes in activities such as drawing, painting, and modeling, using standard and teacher prepared instructional aids
    • Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities
    • Instruct pupils in proper care and use of tools and equipment
    • Organizes storage areas and controls use of materials, equipment and tools to prevent loss or abuse, and to minimize time required for distribution and collection
    • Order, maintain, and inventory all materials necessary for the school/district art program
    • Participates in planning curriculum, staff meetings and in-service training programs as are scheduled for teacher
    • Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which he/she will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines
    • Performs other duties as may, from time to time be assigned by the supervisor
