Nic Hahn

My name is Nichole Hahn or Nic Hahn as most of my online art community  knows me as. I have been a Visual Arts teacher for the past 20 years. I have taught students as young as pre school on up to Adult learners and every level in between. I have most taught in the midwest, Wisconsin and Minnesota. Most recently I was teaching at a K-5 school in Rogers, Minnesota. This year I have taken a year off for career exploration pursuing illustration. 

I received my undergrad at the University of Wisconsin- Stout. I continued my education receiving my Masters of Education from the University of Minnesota- St. Mary’s. I have a passion for continuing education so I have taken courses highlighting educational theory and the Visual Arts since. I have also been able to be part of The Art of Education team, working as an online instructor and well as filming and sharing presentations on their website. I was the host of the Everyday Art Room Podcast for the Art of Education for over 2 years. I have been a member of NAEA since my student chapter at Stout. I was  honored with the Minnesota Art Educator of the Year 2018 Award from Art Educators of Minnesota (AEM). 

I have always loved being an Art Teacher. I get to witness so much learning and authentic thought from my students teaching this amazing subject. I have always wanted to share with the world the tremendous happenings in the classroom.  This provoked me to share the happenings in my classroom on a blog called MiniMatisse.blogspot.com. I continue to grow the way I celebrate my classroom to Twitter (@MiniMatisse) and Instagram (@MiniMatisseArt). I also share my lessons with educators on my Teacher Pay Teacher Store. Other ways I am connected on social media can be viewed on my Linktree profile which includes my personal art, my YouTube Channel and more. This has not only empowered my students and advocated my program, but it has also connected me to millions of creative people and teachers around the world.

Nate Heck

As a former classroom art teacher, Nate Heck was concerned with the yearly decrease in arts funding. In 2013, Nate set out to create online arts content that could be seen by students around the globe, regardless of their educational institution’s financial status. The goal of Artrageous is to show the power of creativity and innovation, and to prove what happens in the art room is connected to everything outside of it.  To date, “Artrageous with Nate” has garnered 11 Emmys and millions of views, with episodes focusing on the Louvre to current artists and creatives. Educators and museums around the globe use Artrageous episodes in classrooms, guides, and interactive exhibits. You can find Nate working out of his treehouse with his dog Hank, or travelling with his family in France, where he once lived.

Nate, his wife (Jessica), and his four kids (Geneva, Phoenix, Zara, and Juneau) live in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Jorge Lucero

Jorge Lucero is an artist born, raised, and educated in Chicago. He currently serves as Chair and Associate Professor of Art Education at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Some of Lucero’s books include Mere and Easy: Collage as a Critical Practice in Pedagogy, Teacher as Artist-in-Residence: The Most Radical Form of Expression to Ever Exist, and the forthcoming edited volumes What Happens at the Intersection of Conceptual Art and Teaching? and Alongside Teacher: Conversations about What, Where, and Who Artists learn with. He is the author of numerous peer-reviewed articles and chapters in books and is co-editor of the international journal Visual Arts Research. Lucero has exhibited, performed, and taught all over the U.S. and abroad. He received his degrees from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Penn State University. Before being recruited into higher education, Lucero happily taught at the Chicago Public School, Northside College Prep.
