Recording: Disabled Conceptual Artists

Description:
This presentation will be focusing on intellectually compelling and engaging contemporary work by disabled artists, and suggesting ways to not only lead units with this artwork, but also to use these ideas and artworks to critically challenge ways in which schooling can marginalize disabled students.
Bio:
Bert Stabler was a full-time art teacher for ten years at a neighborhood high school on the south side of Chicago, in which many students received special education services. He also was an independent curator, critic, and artist during this time. Bert is severely nearsighted, and has a strong interest in issues of contemporary art and institutionalization in relation to race and disability.
