Events related to the grand kicked off Thursday, February 27th with visiting artist, Peter London, providing a lecture that was free and open to the public on the campus of Southern Illinois University. Many students, faculty, and community artists participated in this event. The Southern Illinois Art Education Conference Started early Friday morning with four art educators offering lecture/discussion sessions focussing on art education specifically in Southern Illinois. Following this, art educators chose one out of five studio walk workshops to participate. The keynote luncheon featured a lecture from art educator and author, Peter London. After lunch, participants chose a second workshop of the five offered. A tea with Peter London wrapped up the day’s events.
