Out There: A Symposium on Contemporary Practice, Art and Civility.

Saturday, April 26
10 am – 6 pm

K–12 educators are invited to a daylong symposium exploring the relationship between contemporary practice, civic engagement, art, and the work of museums. This event brings together artists, activists, curators, educators, and historians from around the world. Learn more.

The themes driving this symposium—collaboration, community outreach, civic engagement, and the role of the arts—have clear pedagogical implications in and beyond the walls of the classroom.

Teachers will gather during the lunch hour for a special breakout meal. Hosted and conceptualized by artist and activist collective Potluck: Chicago, this lunch will provide a sociable space for educators to collectively and creatively explore the conference’s driving questions. Attendees will receive CPDUs. Vouchers for free parking in the MCA garage will be provided pending availability. $6 Teacher Tickets include conference admission and lunch. Purchase online.

student showEach year the IAEA selects 40 pieces of outstanding student artwork for display at the IAEA conference and at locations throughout the state. This show is an excellent opportunity for students across the state in grades K-12 to display their work and talents. It also demonstrates to the public the breadth of experience young people in Illinois are getting in their arts program. This is your chance to showcase some of your students’ artwork by submitting entries for consideration in this up and coming year’s show.
